Camptown telephone exchange stands beside the A68 at Camptown, Jedburgh TD8 6PN and also serves an area including Bairnkine, Jedwater and Edgerston.

The first auto exchange here came into service on 31 March 1937, replacing a manual exchange which opened in 1926.

The principal telephone code for this exchange is 01835-84.

Its former dialling code was 083 54.

Crailing telephone exchange is situated just off the old A698 at Crailing, Jedburgh TD8 6TW and also serves an area including Nisbet, Eckford and Mounthooley.

It came into service as an RAX5 at noon on 29 March 1932, replacing the earlier Nisbet and Eckford manual exchanges.

The principal telephone code for this exchange is 01835-85.

Its former dialling code was 083 55.

Jedburgh ATE

Jedburgh ATE

Jedburgh telephone exchange is located in Edinburgh Road, Jedburgh TD8 6EA and also serves an area including Bonjedward, Langlee, Oxnam and Lanton.

It came into service at 1.45pm on 28 February 1950, replacing a manual exchange which opened in the mid-1890s in Exchange Street (its first supervisor, Miss E D Waugh, not retiring until 1938).

The principal telephone code for this exchange is 01835-86.

Its former dialling code was 083 56.

Lilliesleaf ATE

Lilliesleaf ATE

Lilliesleaf telephone exchange is situated in a lane behind Lilliesleaf House, Lilliesleaf, Melrose TD6 9HX and also serves an area including Midlem, Riddell and Bewlie.

The principal telephone code for this exchange is 01835-87.

Its former dialling code was 083 57.

Lilliesleaf former Manual Exchange

Lilliesleaf former manual TE

The former Lilliesleaf manual telephone exchange is situated Main Street, Lilliesleaf, Melrose TD6 9HX and also served an area including Midlem, Riddell and Bewlie.

This manual exchange opened here around 1910 and was operated for 35 years by the sub-postmaster James Henderson. The building is now a private dwelling.

It was replaced in June 1947 by a mobile auto exchange on the Manse Glebe until the current building could be brought into use.

In 1947 it was equipped with a CBS2 switchboard with 49 lines.

St Boswells ATE

St Boswells ATE

St Boswells telephone exchange is situated on the B6398 in Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0PL and serves an area including St Boswells, Newtown St Boswells, Charlesfield, Dryburgh, Mertoun and Maxton.

It came into service on 24 January 1939, replacing a manual exchange first opened by the National Telephone Company in 1896. The area was also served in part by the Maxton manual exchange between c 1898 and 1960.

The principal telephone code for this exchange is 01835-82.

Its former dialling code was 083 52.
