The eight BT Telephone Exchanges (and two former) in the Clopton (01832) telephone area
The Oundle exchanges originally had the STD code of 0082 and the Clopton exchanges had the
STD code of 0085 which changed to 0801. They both subsequently changed to 0832, later 01832.
Benefield ATE
It came into serviceas a UAX12 in about 1938. It was converted from Strowger to digital working on 14 December 1994 when lines became Benefield 205*** numbers.
Bythorn ATE
The first ATE here, at the front of the site, came into service as a UAX12 in the late 1930s.
Clopton ATE
The first ATE here was an RAX5 which came into service in 1932 and was called Clapton. The name of the exchange was changed on 1 August 1956.

Elton ATE
The first ATE here was an RAX5 which came into service in the early 1930s.
Lowick former ATE
The former Lowick telephone exchange stood beside the A6116 north of Lowick, Kettering.
It came into service around the late 1930s as a UAX12. It closed around 1970. The road has since been straightened and the building demolished.
Its dialling code was 008 56 and then briefly 080 16.

Oundle ATE

Oundle former ATE
The former Oundle telephone exchange is in Drummingwell Lane, Oundle, Peterborough PE8 4AA.
It came into service in the 1950s to replace a CBS2 manual exchange. It is now a Methodist church.
Its dialling code was 008 22, later 083 22.

Thrapston ATE
It came into service in the 1960s to replace a manual exchange. It was converted to digital working on 7 May 1992 when lines became Thrapston (0832) 73**** numbers.
Winwick ATE
The first ATE here was an RAX5 opened in May 1932.
