Llandrindod Wells former ATE
Llandrindod Wells former automatic exchange is located in Station Crescent, Llandrindod Wells LD5 1AP, and was located in the west end of the head post office in the town, and served Llandrindod Wells and the surrounding area. Replacing a former manual exchange located in Park Terrace, this exchange came into operation in December 1937 as a 4 digit non director type, with auto-manual board for operator working, and remaining in use with extensions until about 1985 when subscribers were transferred to the present exchange in Quarry Lane. The present building (2025) is still in use with two of its other original functions, as a Post Office counter, and as a Royal Mail sorting office.

Now a private dwelling “The Old Exchange” with much of its original B1 brick structure still intact.
