Bryn Teifi switching centre is located by the B4459 in Llanfihangel-y-Arth, Pencader SA39 9JX, and is 1½ miles north of the present Pencader telephone exchange.

This facility, which opened in the early 1970’s, is responsible for handling all the STD calls made by subscribers from the Lampeter, Llanarth and Llandysul exchange groups.

Velindre former ATE

Velindre former ATE
The former Velindre automatic exchange is located in Velindre, Llandysul SA44 5UG, 120 yards north of the present exchange, and served Velindre and its surounding area.

It entered service as a UAX12 in 1946, replacing a manual exchange in the village post office, and was replaced with a larger UAX13 in 1957; remaining in use until 1976 when the present exchange came into operation.

Later sold for commercial use, with both “A” brick and “B1” timber structures present in 2011; the brick structure has since been replaced with a new timber building which matches the style of the “B1” to the rear, and is now in use as a hairdressers’ salon (2024).
