Dover Telephone Exchange is located in Biggin Street, Dover CT16 1BE and serves Dover and the surrounding area.
The building work for Dover ATE commenced in 1968 and it entered service on 28th March 1973 as a TXK1 exchange with approximately 4500 lines.
During this period there was a mobile exchange named Gateway which was located in the grounds at Dover.
The telephone codes for this exchange include 01304-20, 01304-21, 01304-22 and 01304-24.
The former dialling code for this exchange was 0304.

Eastry former ATE

Eastry former ATE
The former Eastry Telephone Exchange is situated in Mill Lane, Eastry,  Dover CT13 0JW and served Eastry and surrounding villages. When this exchange closed around 1980 subscribers were transferred to the Sandwich exchange.
The building has since been converted into a holiday home.
The former dialling code for this exchange was 030 486.

Nonington Telephone Exchange is situated in Holt Street, Nonington, Dover CT15 4JA and serves Nonington and surrounding villages.
The former Nonington exchange, which housed a UAX13, was situated on the same site, but has since been demolished.

The former Shepherdswell Telephone Exchange is located in Cox Hill, Shepherdswell, Dover CT15 7NN and served Shepherdswell and the surrounding area.

The exchange was initially equipped with a UAX6, later upgraded to a UAX13.

The building is now occupied by a Hair & Beauty salon.

  • Kingsdown former Auto ExchangeThe former Kingsdown exchange was a (possibly mobile) UAX13 which replaced a CBS2 manual exchange in May 1962. It appears to have been replaced by Deal ATE at automation on 16 January 1969.
  • Kingsdown former Manual ExchangeThe former Kingsdown manual exchange, equipped with a CBS2 switchboard, was located in Ringwould Road, Kingsdown.
