Sowerby Bridge former Exchanges

The first Sowerby Bridge exchange was a manual board which opened in the post office in Station Road, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax (now HX6 3AA).
It came into service in April 1924, replacing a temporary board (a hypothetical exchange) opened in the main Halifax exchange on 8 October 1922. It was replaced with an ATE built to the rear of the post office which opened on 8 December 1928 as part of the Halifax linked numbering scheme. Sowerby Bridge lines became Halifax numbers around 1950. The post office is now a veterinary surgery.
