Morecambe former manual exchange
The former Morecambe manual telephone exchange is located in Market Street, Morecambe LA4 5DN. Building work started in 1928 and it came into service on 20 January 1931 as a central battery exchange, replacing a magneto switchboard in the post office.
The first exchange, opened by the National Telephone Company around 1896, resided in a domestic house in Northumberland Street, Morecambe. The building was then turned into a solicitors, but there is no evidence remaining of it’s existence. The exchange then moved to the post office in 1920. It ceased operation on Wednesday 6 November 1974 when it was replaced by the current auto exchange.

Overton former ATE
The former Overton Telephone Exchange was located in Lancaster Road, Overton LA3 3EZ and served Overton and the surrounding villages.
It initially housed a UAX12, later replaced by an SAX, it has since been demolished. Upon closure lines were transferred to the Heysham exchange.
The former dialling code for this exchange was 052 471.

Silverdale Telephone Exchange is located in Gaskell Close, Silverdale, Cranforth LA5 0RD and serves Silverdale and the surrounding villages.
The former Silverdale exchange, which housed a UAX13, was located in Emesgate Lane, Silverdale LA5 0SU (now St Johns Avenue), it has since been demolished.
