Angle ATE

Angle Telephone Exchange is located on the B4320 in Newton, Pembroke SA71 5AA and serves Angle, Newton and the surrounding area. This exchange came into service around 1968 replacing the former exchange located one mile to the west.

Carew ATE

Carew Telephone Exchange is located just off the A477 in Carew Cheriton, Tenby SA70 8ST and serves Carew, Carew Cheriton, Milton, Sageston and the surrounding area.
The telephone code for this exchange is 01646-65.

Carew former ATE

The former Carew exchange is located in Carew Lane, Tenby SA70 8SN, some 80 yards above Carew bridge on the A4075, ½ mile north from the present exchange, and served Carew, Cresselly, Milton, Sageston and the surrounding area.
In service as Cresselly exchange in 1931 as a RAX5, and renamed Carew one year later; upgraded to UAX12 by 1950, and taken out of use by 1957.
Now in private use, this dilapidated “A” structure emerges from the undergrowth, with makeshift roof repair is all one can see when viewed from the public road.

Castlemartin ATE

Castlemartin Telephone Exchange is located in West Lane, Warren, Castlemartin SA71 5HS and serves Axton Hill, Castlemartin, Merrion, Warren and the surrounding area. This exchange came into service in 1932 as a RAX5.

Dale ATE

Dale Telephone Exchange is located on the B4327 in Dale, Haverfordwest SA62 3QX and serves Dale and the surrounding area. This exchange came into service in 1936 as a UAX12 replacing a manual exchange in the village post office.

Lamphey ATE

Neyland former ATE

The former Neyland exchange is located ½ south of the present exchange, in Llanstadwell Church Road, 120 yards west of its junction the B4325 at the Promenade, and served Burton, Neyland, Waterston and surrounding area.
In use as a UAX13 in 1944, and remaining in use until 1977.
Later sold for private use and used for agricultural storage, with grazing cattle and farm implements on site until 2017; now derelict and overgrown (2024).

Pembroke former ATE

The former Pembroke exchange is located in Commons Road, Pembroke, SA71 4EA, 1½ miles south of the present exchange, and served Cosheston, Lamphey, Pembroke and surrounding area. In use as a UAX13 in 1938, with additional subscriber capacity in the 1950’s, and closing in 1961.
Now rebuilt as a 2 bedroom private dwelling, “The Old Telephone Exchange”, featuring an unusual layout bringing together one “A” and two “B” type brick structures on sloping ground.

Stackpole former ATE

The former Stackpole exchange is located just north of Stackpole village, 3 miles south of the town of Pembroke, served by Stackpole, Trewent and surrounding area. In use as a UAX12 in service in 1960, replacing a manual exchange in the village post office. Closing in 1979, with subscribers transferred to the present Lamphey exchange. Now in private use as a garden shed.
