The exchange was converted from Strowger to System X digital working in 1993.

Spilsby ATE
Spilsby telephone exchange is located in Eresby Avenue, Spilsby PE23 5HU and serves East Keal, Spilsby, Toynton All Saints and the surrounding area.
It came into service on 21 February 1980 to replace the previous auto exchange in Pooles Lane when lines became Spilsby 5**** numbers.
It was converted to an AXE10 digital exchange in the spring of 1994.
The telephone codes for this exchange include 01790-5 and 01790-75.
Its former dialling code was 079 02.

Spilsby former ATE
The former Spilsby telephone exchange is situated in Pooles Lane, off West End, Spilsby PE23 5EB.
It came into service as a UAX14 at 1.30pm on 4 October 1938 to replace a manual exchange. It closed on 21 February 1980 and was sold in 1987. It is now a scout hall.
Its former dialling code was 079 02.
