Takeley former ATE
The former Takeley exchange was situated in Dunmow Road, Takeley, Bishops Stortford CM22 6SB.
It came into service in a B1 type building in the 1950s and was blown to smithereens in a gas explosion at 7.30 am on Wednesday 14 November 1962.
Six people were slightly hurt and 200 homes damaged. Mobile units were used to restore service. Its replacement on the same site, since demolished, closed at 8am on 3 January 1973 when lines became Bishops Stortford 870*** numbers.

- Matching Former ExchangeThe former Matching exchange was at Matching Green, Matching, Harlow CM19 0QE. It came into service as an RAX5 in the early 1930s and was later replaced by a UAX13. After closure around 1980 a house called The Old Telephone Exchange was built on the site. Its dialling code was 027 982.
