Great Smeaton telephone exchange is situated in Northallerton Road, Great Smeaton DL6 2EX and also covers Little Smeaton, Hornby and Appleton Wiske.
It came into service in the late 1940s as a UAX12, replacing a manual exchange which first opened around 1905.

Kirby Fleetham ATE
Kirkby Fleetham telephone exchange is situated off Hergill Lane, Little Fencote, Northallerton DL7 0RR and also covers Little Fencote, Great Fencote, Ainderby Miers, Scruton and Great Langton. The first exchange here came into service in 1932 as an RAX5.

Northallerton ATE
Northallerton telephone exchange is located in Alverton Lane, Northallerton DL7 8TP. Its coverage area also includes Romanby, Yafforth, Brompton, Morton on Swale, Ainderby Steeple, Thornton-le-Beans and the villages in between.
It was built by Walter Thompson Ltd in 1962, equipped by STC initially for 1900 lines and came into service in December 1964. It replaced a manual exchange which had operated in the town’s post office since January 1932. The first Northallerton exchange was opened in 1904 with 17 subscribers.
The telephone codes for this exchange include 01609-71, 01609-77 and 01609-78.

Osmotherley ATE
Osmotherley telephone exchange is situated in Clack Lane, Osmotherley, Northallerton DL6 3PWÂ and also covers Ellerbeck, Thimbleby and Mount Grace.
The first auto exchange here came into service in the 1950s, replacing a manual board which opened in 1926 or 1927, the area having been covered in part beforehand by East Harlsey exchange.
